Canadians say goodbye, or adieu, to the penny
Fri Mar 30, 2012
I always like to quantify things to get a handle on the heart of an issue. The US Treasury says it lost about $60 million by producing pennies in 2011. That means that every person in the country has to kick in 19 cents a year to keep the penny around.
Congressman escorted from House after wearing hoodie in Trayvon Martin tribute
Wed Mar 28, 2012
It seems to me as if the "presiding officer" overreacted. He went straight to "The gentlemean will suspend" (i.e., "stop talking"), when he should have simply asked him to put down the hoodie in order to comply with House rules.
Police: LA woman apparently commits suicide with chainsaw
Thu Mar 15, 2012
mm209 said: "Most chainsaws require you to hold down a trigger to keep them running, once dead her hands would have released and the chainsaw would have shut off. The chainsaw would have had to have been down right ancient to not have this modern safety feature". As a 22-year tree service owner, I c …
Blog chronicles joy of Belgian kids before Swiss bus crash
Wed Mar 14, 2012
First things first; Naturally, I feel very bad for those who were killed or injured, and for their loved ones. That said, I wish that "God" could be left out of discussions about tragedies like this. "Spice" said "It shows how fleeting life can be. One moment having fun - next moment gone. We all n …

Man gets 90 days for kicking cat like football
Thu Mar 1, 2012
"It's just a cat". And you're just a punk. I guess that means that according to you I can kick you 18 feet into the air. Much as I'd like to, I was raised better than that.
Rhino dies in anti-poaching demo by conservationists
Thu Feb 9, 2012
Really? No idiotic comments slamming this group over an unfortunate accident encountered while working to save a species from extinction? Maybe all the trolls are busy attending a troll convention somewhere? *** Oops, too late. Petra got in just under the wire.
Companies that have wasted the most on Super Bowl advertising
Sat Feb 4, 2012
Flawed analysis. It's unknown what these companys' market share would have been without the Super Bowl advertising. It very well might have been even lower, and this advertising might very well have actually added to their bottom line. Reminds me of those who say that "the stimulus didn't work".
Twinkies maker Hostess Brands files for bankruptcy protection
Wed Jan 11, 2012
"Hostess, founded in 1930, operates around 36 bakeries in 49 states ..." A pretty neat trick, when you stop and think about it.
Pakistan bans 'monkey crotch', 'Jesus Christ' and obscene words in text messages
Fri Nov 18, 2011
All I can say is "monkey crotch".
